Evaluation & Reflection

weekly evaluation 24/02/25-27/02/25: 

This week im am happy to say I have been progressing steadily each week and this week I have created a short video demonstrating the way I want whoever acts in my short film to perform and im glad ive made it as it will help me produce my short film. im also going to move forward with my peach kucha next week and im going to add two more scenes to my script for my short film so I can lengthen it out. 

Weekly Evaluation 03/03/25-06/03/25:

This week I am proud to say I have made a video demonstrating me experimenting with green screen. if I were to improve it I would've had someone help me turn on the camera and adjust it so that its level and that I am fully in the frame of the shot. im also glad that my peach kucha is practically ready to be presented and im ready to give out my ideas to my peers. I hope next week I can start filming my short film for my FMP so I can get into the main production phase of my work. 

Weekly Evaluation 10/03/25 - 13/03/25 

this week im presenting my Pecha kulcha and im nearly ready to to start filming my short film for my FMP. im proud of what ive done so far and im hoping to continue making the best stuff I can make while having fun during production and post production. 

Weekly Evaluation 17/03/25 - 20/03/25: 

this week im happy I have started filming my amp and im glad to say its going well. im hoping before half term that I can be halfway done with it. when we were filming we got a lot of unwanted attention from classes going upon nearby and we had to abruptly stop because we were too distracting however I was able to get a lot of good footage. 

weekly evaluation 24/03/25-27/03/25 

this week I continued filming for my FMP and me and my mates were able to finish up filming for the opening and ending of my short film and the process was fine and im glad we were able to film a good chunk of the film before easter. 

weekly Evaluation 30/03/25 - 03/04/25 

this week im giving myself a break from filming since both Monday and Tuesday I had no afternoon lessons and since Thursday we are going on a trip im going to wait until after half term to continue filming and im also stating here that I should've checked the recording of the footage that me and my friends shot last Thursday as I have found out it has no audio due to the microphone we used. when easter ends im going to re shoot the scene with no audio and continue with the rest of my short film along with trying to perfect it. 

weekly evaluation 21/04/25 - 24/04/25 

this week my plans for my short film have changed an im glad to say that the changes im wanting to Mae are going to help with the rest of filming as im wanting to film another action sequence in the studio that will be a fight sequence between eoins character and five or three other nameless characters. im wanting to create continuous shots and have the fight be choreographed and rehearsed before we film the actual sequence 

weekly evaluation 28/04/25-01/05/25

im happy to say that im nearing the end of filming for my FMP as on Monday I did rehearsals with some people on the fight sequence im wanting to do in the studio and I filmed extra scenes of Eoin walking to the next scene to give context in those scenes and im going to film the fight sequence in the studio on Thursday and hopefully I will finish it in the time I have and then all I need to do is create posters and film any other extra scenes. 

Short Film Evaluation 12/05/25:

during the production of my Short Film there were many instances where filming was a challenge this was due to me choosing to film everything in the college and at certain times filming had to be postponed or was cut short since many of my ideas for my short film had to be changed when it came to filming. the finished product of my short film is good enough on its own however there are many bits I wish I could've improved if I had more time since I planned out many of the sequences and envisioned the film to be a bit longer than its final 9 minute run time. 

weekly evaluation 12/05/25-15/05/25: 

this week ive uploaded my Final Cut of my short film and gotten feedback from my surveys that I made to get opinions of my short film. im hoping to continue evaluating my short film as I have yet to give an evaluation of my own and what my opinions are of the production. 

weekly evaluation 19/05/25-22/05/25

this week im happy to say that my project is complete and im the stage of evaluation as ive gotten my feedback and now ive given my own reflective comments and evaluation for my FMP. 

Survey Feedback on Short Film:  15/05/25 

recently I have made a survey on my short film and I sent it out to some of my peers and also others in different classes and I have a good number of responses to detail what the highs and lows of my short film were.  I made this to see what others would think of my FMP as im saving my own opinions for my own feedback. 

most of the feedback I received was based on how good everything in my short film was. I asked about the music and the camera shots along with asking if it would be better had I made it longer and I got valid responses that I do agree with. what popped up a lot especially when asking about the music is that it was a bit too loud and was a bit inconsistent with what was happening on screen. I also went back and added sound effects to my film because the fights scenes weren't as interesting and many people said that was something the movie needed.  

Poster survey Feedback: 

I made another survey asking about some posters I made for my short film. 

the majority of the vote on which poster was the best was the second one with the explosion in the background and the hands. Im happy with the results ive got as it tells me which one matches my short film the most.

here is my directors commentary of my short film where I talk about my personal thoughts on the filming of my short film and certain parts of the production that were changed. 

Reflective comments and final evaluation: 21/05/25

For my short film I wanted it to be around 20 minutes long and the initial concept was to create a film in a similar style to those made by the director Edgar wright. however I had to compromise and change it to 9 minutes to fit with the filming I was doing each week. I believe if I had more time I would've been able to create more scenes to fit in with the sequences that I already filmed for my short film. 

I wish I able to have more people be in my short film as I only used a few people to act in it and I believe some scenes would've benefited from having others be in the background or be extras in some of  the fight scenes. 

One of the issues I faced when filming was making sure to film at the right time as I filmed every scene within the college and some of the scenes where a bit difficult to film due to other classes becoming distracted from me and my friends filming outside during lesson time. i probably would've benefitted a lot if I had filmed somewhere else for the outside shots and I had to wait for the right time when classes where over so I could film outside with no disruptions. 

some of the camera shots would've been better if I had changed the angle and also used more edits in-between shots as I relied a lot on having continuous shots in most of the sequences that are in my short film. 

many of my ideas that I had for my short film had to be changed as I originally had a different ending and also had extra scenes to explore Eoin duffys character a bit more to give context to how he acts in my short films story. 

whilst im happy with my final product I do think I could've benefitted from me using some microphones to allow the dialogue to sound clean and clear. one of the mistakes I made when filming was using the clip on microphones however I didn't realise it wasn't properly connected and by the time I extracted the footage from the camera onto my computer there was no audio. this was for the original ending I had in mind however I chose to change the ending by leaving the ending mysterious and ambiguous as that to me seems much better.  

some of the scenes may appear rushed and im being honest about the whole production being fast as I wanted to make sure I was able to film for enough days to get enough footage for my film. 

the way that I attracted my audience was by getting them to fill out surveys and give their own opinions as research and feedback. 

I was able to learn how to use 

what I want to take away from this project is all the skills ive learned and also my creative ideas as im happy I was able to make something film related and I hope to go into filmmaking in the future as a career as it is very fascinating and he whole production of my FMP was really fun and interesting and I hope to continue with my skills and amplify them by making even more productions like my short film. the significance that I feel from making my short film is that its a great stepping on point as it showcases my creative lens and imaginative ideas coming to life and I want to continue making films and having fun by creating interesting stories and using dynamic camera shots.
